Customised Keyholders for Weddings and Events

Quantities, materials, artwork and lead times for engraved keyholders, and what the bulk souvenir market actually costs.

Customised Keyholders for Weddings and Events

A customised keyholder in Cameroon is the cheapest way to put your name in someone's pocket and keep it there. For a wedding, a graduation, a church harvest or a company launch, it is the souvenir people actually keep, because it does a job every single day. At NestX in Bamenda we cut and engrave keyholders in acrylic and wood from your own artwork, and we quote them in 24 hours rather than publishing one price, because the number depends entirely on quantity, material and how much engraving is on each piece.

Why we quote rather than publish a price

A keyholder is not one product. Fifty clear acrylic tags with two lines of text and five hundred wooden tags each carrying a different guest name are different jobs with different economics. The machine time per piece falls sharply as quantity rises. The engraving time per piece rises sharply if every piece is unique.

For a market reference point, engraved keyholders are listed in Yaounde from 500 XAF a piece. Treat that as the floor of the market, not as a like-for-like comparison. At that end you are generally looking at printed inserts in a standard plastic frame, in a standard shape, in a large run. Cut-to-shape engraved acrylic from your own logo is a different object. Knowing the floor exists is still useful, because it tells you what a bulk souvenir budget looks like before you start.

Quantity is the first decision

QuantityTypical eventWhat changes
20 - 50Bridal party, family, small committeeUnique names are realistic. Cost per piece is highest
50 - 150Traditional wedding, graduation class, small church groupOne shared design, names only if the budget allows
150 - 400Church harvest, full wedding, school eventSingle design only. Cost per piece drops noticeably
400 and upCompany launch, convention, associationSingle design, batch cut, longest lead time

The honest advice: pick one design for everybody unless the group is genuinely small. Personalised names on three hundred keyholders is three hundred separate engraving runs, and the cost stops looking like a souvenir and starts looking like an award budget. Personalised names on twenty for the bridal party is lovely and affordable.

Materials

  • Clear acrylic. Engraves frosted white. Clean and modern. The most popular choice for weddings.
  • Coloured acrylic. Engraves to a lighter shade of itself, or through to white on some sheets. Good when the event has a colour and everybody knows it.
  • Mirror acrylic. Engraving cuts through the mirror and shows bright. Looks expensive for very little extra.
  • Wood. Engraves brown on tan and feels warm in the hand. Right for church events, traditional ceremonies and anything that should not look like plastic.

All of them survive a pocket. Acrylic will chip if you drop keys on a concrete floor edge-first enough times. Wood will not chip but it will darken with handling, which most people like.

Artwork that works at keyholder size

This is where most orders need a conversation. A keyholder is roughly the size of your thumb. Artwork that looks fine on a banner disappears at that scale.

  • Bold shapes work. A strong logo mark, initials, a date, a short name.
  • Thin lines do not. Hairline strokes and delicate serifs either fill in or vanish. We will thicken them or advise a different mark.
  • Gradients do not exist. Engraving has no colour and no shading in the printing sense. A gradient becomes a flat tone.
  • Long text does not fit. Two short lines, three at a push. Your full registered company name with SARL at the end will not read.
  • Photos are hard at this size. A face on a keyholder rarely reads. If you want a photograph engraved, do it on a plaque instead. The whole subject is covered in photo engraving on wood and acrylic.

Send us PDF, AI, SVG, DXF or CDR. A real vector file means we cut the outline of your logo directly and the keyholder becomes the shape of your brand rather than a rectangle with your brand inside it. That single decision is what separates a memorable souvenir from a generic one, and it costs nothing extra when the file is right.

The ring, the hole and the thickness

Three small details separate a keyholder that lasts from one that ends up in a drawer, and buyers almost never ask about any of them.

  • The ring. A cheap split ring opens under the weight of house keys and the tag is gone. The ring costs almost nothing in the scheme of a bulk order. Do not let it be the thing that fails.
  • Where the hole sits. The hole must sit in solid material with enough meat around it, not through a thin arm of your logo. If your logo has a narrow neck and the hole goes there, the tag will snap. When we cut a logo to shape we often add a small tab for the hole rather than drill through the artwork itself.
  • Thickness. Thin sheet is cheaper and feels cheap. It also cracks. For a souvenir people should still be carrying in two years, a slightly thicker sheet is a small change in cost and a large change in how it feels in the hand.

We will raise all three with you at quote stage. If a quote from anywhere comes back unusually low on a bulk keyholder order, one of these three is where the saving came from.

Graduation season and the church anniversary and harvest period are the two stretches when everybody wants the same fortnight. If your event falls in either, order at the long end of those ranges. We would rather tell you now than disappoint you in the week of the ceremony.

What a typical wedding order looks like

Two hundred clear acrylic keyholders cut to a shape that means something to the couple, with two lines: the two first names and the date. Then twenty in mirror acrylic with individual names for the bridal party, groomsmen and the parents. One design does the volume, a small personalised batch does the people who matter most, and the whole thing arrives in one delivery.

Churches do the same thing with a different balance. A single harvest or anniversary design in wood for the congregation, and plaques for the people being honoured.

Paying and delivery

MTN MoMo and Orange Money. A deposit starts the job because material is bought and cut against your specific order. Balance on completion after we send photographs. For events outside Bamenda we pack and send by transport agency to Bafoussam, Douala, Yaounde and elsewhere. Keyholders travel very well, which is one more reason they beat plaques as a bulk souvenir.

Finished souvenir work is in the gallery and the published price list is on the price page.

Send your quantity, your date and your logo file on WhatsApp and we will come back with a price inside 24 hours. Everything we make is listed on the services page.

Questions people ask

How much is a customised keyholder?

We quote in 24 hours, because the price moves with quantity, material and how much engraving is on each piece. As a market reference, engraved keyholders are listed in Yaounde from 500 XAF a piece, usually printed inserts in a standard frame rather than cut-to-shape engraved acrylic.

What is the minimum order?

There is no hard minimum, but the cost per piece falls sharply with quantity. Below about twenty pieces you are paying mostly for setup, so small orders often make more sense as a plaque instead.

Can every keyholder have a different name?

Yes, and it works beautifully for a bridal party or a small committee. On three hundred pieces it means three hundred separate engraving runs and the budget stops being a souvenir budget. Pick one design for the crowd and personalise a small batch.

What artwork should I send?

PDF, AI, SVG, DXF or CDR. A proper vector file lets us cut the outline of your logo so the keyholder is the shape of your brand. Avoid thin lines, gradients and long text, because none of them survive at thumb size.

How long does a bulk order take?

Two weeks for up to fifty in one design, three weeks up to a hundred and fifty, four to five weeks above that. Add two weeks for individual names and one week for delivery to another town.

Can you deliver to Douala or Yaounde?

Yes, by transport agency. Keyholders pack tightly and travel very well, which is one of their advantages over plaques for a large event.
